“To fill the blank”
the blank has broken away
from everything it’s supposed
to be, it’s been drained,
left empty.
“To give the blank a meaning”
maybe a new religion,
a belief to abuse,
a match to light the fuse,
the right idea of wrong
or just an excuse to move on.
“To make the blank sound good”
if only we could, it was never meant
to be completely understood,
a word for what could have been,
a space to fill the earth,
whatever the value,
it’s of very little worth.
“To find the blank it’s reason”
nothing extraordinary,
nothing too profound,
still part of the vocabulary,
a consonant, vowel or noun,
we’ll use the blank to reach
