Last Wish
under a broken branch,
in the shade of the learning tree
there lies a broken wish,
and only you can set it free,
under leaf, obscured it remains
forever in its dark,
unable to find its rightful place,
unfelt by a wishful heart.
on the shoulders of a penny
beneath a weathered well,
a thousand wishes lay to rest,
each with a tale to tell,
I’ve seen stars fall from view
holding hopes heroes, the fallen few,
laying dormant your wish grows greater
most wish for the ordinary
but you wish for something greater
