by the Thames 5:00 o’clock 12/10/07
boats at moorings
bobbing in dull tides
bobbing side to side
vacant and weathered
from weekends spent starboard
it’s five o’clock Greenwich meantime
I can only wonder where these
boats have been,
and how many seas they’ve sailed - if any at all
having grown up by the coast
I find it hard to believe
I am only two miles away
from the centre of the city.
