old hearts are healing
in their twilight years dreaming
about their early years

crimson, a night swan
unable to spread a wing
a fledgling drifting

this flower wilts, dies
then it lies down with its friends
as the first frost descends

the sea treasured the few
limpets left on its empty sands
like peaks pointing north
Coral Reef
short lived pioneers
shallow water colonies
