Human Gremlin

I’ve got people

telling me 

I shouldn’t drink,

I’ve got people 

telling me 

I shouldn’t think

but they ain’t me,

I speak profanities

think obscenities, 

loose lipped 

appendages

fall from my mouth,

they tell me 

not to analyse

the people I despise,

but

I savour 

human behaviour,

it’s an education 

a lifelong occupation, 

it’s the worst of us

desperate, 

docile

and

beaten 

into submission

forever servants 

to 

our 

addictions,

lottery ticket loyalty,

scratch card obsessions,

massaging the parts

we never mention,

and to think our faith

starts at the alter

Humans?

keep them away 

from water 

and bright lights

and never feed them 

after midnight
