The Day I Lost My Mind
the day I lost my mind
no ships left the harbour
Christopher Columbus
never found the new America,
needles of millions strewn
upon the pacific edge
laid half injected in the gutter,
there’s a little slice of Calcutta
cooking opium in all of us,
the day I lost my mind
the world never made a fuss,
no trade deals were sanctioned
the west hadn’t turned to dust,
whilst I untangled the confusion
cancer crept up on us,
as I wrangled with my delusion
no one ever found a solution
as to why and how I lost my mind
so now I stay confined for all to see,
in an open casket people observe me
taking notes and ticking boxes,
the day I lost my mind
I joined the billion corpses
