Stranded with the vultures circling,

the inception of our species 

are ogled at by scenesters 

behind sealed glass,

millennia has been reduced 

to a YouTube short, 

a holstered iPhone, 

one trigger-happy hand trembles 

in anticipation, who’s going to be 

the first to fire off a selfie

with the corpse of a woolly mammoth
