The Shaming Tree

he was a model citizen 

a real pillar of the community

until he was found hung

from the shaming tree

what could’ve been his reasoning?

I doubt anyone was listening,

he hated the idea of getting old

left to navigate a corrosive world

rotten and rusted, 

introverted

maladjusted,

functioning perfectly

without diagnosis,

disillusioned by

a society under

broadcast hypnosis, 

maybe he was bored

with the everyday illusion,

tired of the engineered 

“gender confusion” 

or the impending fusion 

of the synthetic human,

we’re in the twilight years

of bones and skin

the ‘old ways’ need

dismantling and then

replacing, I sense

he found it impossible

to stay alive because 

he couldn’t pick a side

clearly, he chose suicide, 

because society would’ve 

shamed him if he hadn’t 

of conformed to their 

defective ways of thinking
